Speaker profile

Prof. John Goodacre is the Challenge Director for the UK Research and Innovation Digital Security by Design Challenge Fund with responsibility for the programme of funded activities and associated research agenda to realise a future generation of digitally secured computers. He also holds a Professorship in Computer Architectures at the University of Manchester having recently transitioned from been the Director of Technology and Systems in the Research Group at ARM Ltd. He was also co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer at Kaleao Limited.

His career includes the realisation of the first scalable commodity telephony platform, the introduction of the first online data and video conferencing tools shipped in Microsoft Exchange 2000, while more recently, responsible for the design and introduction of the ARM MPCore multicore processor and associated technologies. His roles today extend across both academic, industrial and government. His research interest include web-scale servers, exascale efficient systems and secured ubiquitous computing.
