Reinventing electricity grids for the energy transition.
The pathway to Net Zero is inevitably evolving distribution grids. As the penetration of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) continues to grow, the distribution grids will become increasingly challenged by intermittent loads and generation connected to low voltage. Continuing operating and designing distribution grids in the traditional way, with largely passive grids boasting high capacity margins will become increasingly costly. The time and effort required to reinforce and expand the grid in traditional ways may also not be able to keep up with the growing demand. However, since the distribution grids are increasingly being digitized the ability to monitor and actively control also low voltage levels is improving fast.
Imagine that the whole electrical ecosystem would work connected as one. An ecosystem where the consumers and prosumers of electricity could contribute not only to the stability of the system, but to integrate more and more renewables.
We call it Plexigrid.
