Connected Response is a hi-tech energy innovator.
Our HeatSage technology transforms the lives of households reliant on existing electric storage heating and hot water systems
The Challenge
There are 1.5m UK households with electric storage heating, charging on archaic Economy 7-type tariffs – at inappropriate times like11.30pm - 1.30am. This guarantees residents are too warm in the morning and too cold in the afternoon/evening. Residents resort to expensive supplementary heating to keep warm. This increases total network consumption by up to 9% at the winter evening peak, the most carbon-intensive period.
Households reliant on electric storage heating are disproportionately fuel poor – many cannot afford on-peak supplementary heating and go to bed early or go cold.
Existing heaters can deliver a much better service if flexibly charged at better times.
The HeatSage Solution
HeatSage has four components: a smart load switch situated next to the resident’s meter; a temperature and humidity sensor located in the lounge; a communications gateway; and, the Connected Response cloud-based server which manages the system.
HeatSage has been installed in London tower blocks, including the iconic Trellick Tower. Glasgow Housing Association has just embarked on a four-year project to install HeatSage in all 10,000 of its flats heated by electric storage heating.
Kenny Cameron, Connected Response’s Managing Director:
"I have attended ENIC since Brighton 2013. I rank it as the best event of the year, because of the spirit of innovation fostered by Ofgem and willingly embraced by DNOs hungry to collaborate with innovators and with each other."
Why Attend ENIC 21?
The ENIC conference is the only event of its kind, designed to bring together energy network innovators and decision makers from across the UK. You’ll hear from top speakers in the industry and be able to meet your peers as well as visit an exhibition hall packed with companies offering cutting edge solutions.
